If you have diabetes, choosing and preparing foods that are low in sugar, fat and sodium can be a real challenge. University of Missouri Extension in Miller County is offering a series of classes for people with diabetes and their families and friends. This program teaches the many aspect of diabetes self-care with a strong focus on nutrition.

I hope all the mothers and grandmothers had a very enjoyable day on Sunday. Lots of graduation ceremonies took place also on that day and celebration parties afterward. I personally think it took away from the mother, her special day, although a mother’s most proudest time would be to see her child graduate from school and move on with their lives. As they say, another chapter. None the less, congratulations to all those that graduated.

Free genealogy workshop Saturday in Versailles
The Eldon Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will host a genealogy workshop this Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Morgan County Public Library in Versailles. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Local school librarian appointed
to statewide association board
The Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL) announces the addition of Lysha Thompson, library media specialist in the Miller County R-3 school district, to its board of directors. Thompson was nominated to serve as MASL’s second vice president for the 2012-2013 school year, and her nomination was confirmed at the 2012 MASL Spring Conference through a vote of the membership.
