Date: 05-31-2012,   City: Independence, MO Location: Hilton Garden Inn Event: Owsley Family Historical Society Details: The Owsley Family Historical Society is hosting our annual meeting in Independence, Missouri this year May 31st through June 2nd. We gather in a different location each year and focus on the Owsley/Ousley/Housley families that we have researched in the past year in addition to some local sight-seeing. Genealogists will want to come early or stay late to research at the wonderful Mid-Continent Library. Mid-Continent has the third largest genealogical collection in the U.S. and has moved to new quarters since our last visit. The second annual MFA Oil Poker Run will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012. All Poker Run proceeds will be split equally between Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri® and University of Missouri Children?s Hospital. There will be four routes to choose from, with starting points in Columbia, Jefferson City, Sedalia and Lake Ozark. All routes are approximately 100 miles and include seven stops, with a live auction and announcement of winners following lunch at Memorial Park in Jefferson City. Lunch starts at noon. Individual Entries (includes lunch): $25 each (through May 11, 2012) $30 each (May 12 thru event day) Multiple hands may be purchased. You must be 18 or older to register. $5 entry fee for lunch only Available for purchase on event day only.
